Announcements:

- National Honor Society will be selling Crushes & Kisses for Valentine’s Day during lunch today through Wednesday. They will be $1.00 each.

 

-Reminder juniors & seniors who are either going to Northeast Community College or who are interested in attending Northeast: Their rep, Anthony Faust, will be here today at 1:30. The seniors who are attending will meet with him @ 1:30. Then we will call the juniors to visit with him around 2:00. See Mr. Kneifl if you have questions or need a sign-out sheet.

-Boys Basketball tonight vs. Crofton. JV boys at 6pm with the Varsity boys to follow.

-The Penny War is still going on until this Thursday. So far the Juniors are in first place with $27.28, then the Faculty/Staff at $9.91, 7th grade with $3.24, Sophomores with minus .01 cent, Freshmen with minus .36 cents, 8th grade with minus .61 cents and in last place are the Seniors with minus $9.42. So far we have raised $97.14.

-Attention students who may be looking for part-time employment. Pizza Ranch is opening a restaurant in Vermillion, South Dakota. They are looking for students who may be interested in part-time employment. See Mr. Kneifl if you are interested. 

-This week is FCCLA Week! Dress up day for tomorrow is: Be Confident by wearing your crazy mismatched clothing

Wednesday: Be Prepared! Prepare yourself for relaxation in your pajamas

Thursday: Be a Friend by dressing like your best friend

Friday: Be YOU in RED! Celebrate FCCLA by wearing your Redest outfit!

-Also for FCCLA Week - Each day this week we will have a trivia question for you to think of and turn the answer in at the office. Every entry per day gives you more chances to win the prize at the end of the weeks drawing! Remember to put your name on it! Today's trivia question is: What does FCCLA stand for?"

-There will be a meeting today during homeroom in the Commons for students interested in going to the No Limits Conference

-Congratulations to the HNS Varsity speech team on their runner-up finish out of 15 schools at Saturday’s Wausa Invite.  Pierce was the varsity champion. 

 

HNS had three varsity event champions.  They were Sam Harms in Entertainment, Brianna Hopping in Persuasive, and the team of Dylan Dendinger, Sam Harms, Autumn Lammers, Abbe Morten, and Shaye Morten in OID.

Other varsity medal winners were:

Humorous Prose – Shaye Morten, 2nd

Poetry – Brianna Hopping, 6th

Duet Acting – Belle Harms and Abbe Morten, 3rd

 

The JV team placed fourth.  Wausa won the JV division.  Leah Reichle was event champion in Poetry.

Other JV medal winners were:

Entertainment – Bennet Sievers, 3rd

Persuasive – Erin Meisenheimer, 2nd

Poetry – Delayne Sudbeck, 6th

Serious Prose – Keanna Korth, 5th

 

The next meet for HNS is Saturday in Crofton.

 

-Tomorrow HNS Jr. High will begin hosting their basketball tournament. HNS girls will play LCC at 1:30; HNS boys vs. LCC at 2:45. Thursday Wynot girls vs. Wausa at 1:30; Wynot boys vs. Wausa at 2:45. The Championship and Consolation games will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16.

 

-Tomorrow night the Varsity basketball girls will begin Sub-District action in Creighton. They will play Boyd County at approximately 7:30. Team bus will leave at 5:00

 

-There will be a Prom Food Committee Meeting on Thursday during homeroom in Mrs. Pedersen’s room.

 

-Interested in attending a track camp at Wayne State College next Saturday Feb 16th?  Cost is $40 if mailed in this week.  $50 at the door.  See Coach Noecker if you are interested in attending.  Great clinic, free shirt and all you can eat food at the G.A.G.
