HARTINGTON – Three northeast Nebraska high school volleyball teams took part in a Tuesday night triangular.
From Hartington-Newcastle High School, both Wakefield and Wausa also attended.
In the opening match, the host Wildcats held off Wakefield in two sets (25-23, 25-23).
Kayden Jueden paced Hartington-Newcastle at the net with a double-double recording 11 kills and 11 digs. Liby Lange followed with 16 set assists as Autumn Lammers led the Wildcats in digs with 16.
For Wakefield, Jessica Borg tallied a team-high five kills as Breanna Chase and Emma Pommer added four kills each. Devaney Brown and Jamie Dolph paced the team in digs with five each while Chase tacked on eight set assists.
During the second match, it found Wakefield picking up a two-set sweep over Wausa (25-21, 25-22). With the split, Wakefield is now 5-11 on the season and will next visit Osmond on Thursday.
Borg again led Wakefield at the net with six kills joined alongside Pommer with six kills and another five from Chase. Brown, who had three service aces in the opening match, added four service aces. Andrea Lopez led the team in digs with nine while Chase tallied eight set assists.
In the final match, Hartington-Newcastle won two straight sets over Wausa (25-13, 25-16). With the four set wins, the Wildcats improved to 12-2 on the season as Wausa drops to 3-9. Hartington-Newcastle next hosts Plainview on Thursday while Wausa hosts a triangular with Niobrara/Verdigre and Clearwater-Orchard on Thursday.
Jueden paced Hartington-Newcastle at the net with nine kills as Abbe Morten added another six. Lange totaled 20 set assists as Lammer led the team with eight digs and five service aces.
